Occasionally I will still see a church advertising dates for an upcoming “revival.” Have you ever been to a revival meeting? What comes to your mind when you think of them?

For me, a revival makes me think of a big tent (which, alas, we no longer have at Grace after the windstorms of 2013) and lots of fiery preaching, usually about repentance and avoiding hell.

For Hosea, revival is also a central theme. But the amazing thing to me about God’s words in this book is that there is, in fact, virtually no mention of hell or even eternal life. Hosea calls for revival here and now. But what does it look like? And what can we expect when we turn back to God?

On Sunday, we will walk through the final chapters of this fiery prophet and his message of passionate love.
