Have you ever felt stuck or as if God had forgotten you? Have your circumstances begun to dictate your identity–a false identity–and not what the Creator intended for you?

This week we will explore Exodus and Numbers as we continue laying the “big chunks” of the Bible in place through our One Story series. Our symbol this week is a ring, which represents identity, covenant and authority.

Exodus is a defining book for the nation of Israel. The people had become slaves in another land. They had forgotten who they were–they had lost their identity. Exodus is sometimes called the  “Book of Names” because it is about God reminding His children who they are and who He is.

Numbers is a glimpse into what happens when God gives us freedom, but because we choose fear over faith we miss what God has planned for us. This brings to mind a truthful statement: the blessings of the children lie in their obedience to the parents.

Let’s open our Bibles and discover the reality of who God is and who we are!
