Welcome Jason Thomas

Middle School Pastor

We are excited to announce and welcome Jason Thomas as our Middle School Pastor!
Here is a brief Q&A to get to introduce Jason:

Introduce your family and tell us a bit about your background.

Pearilya is my wife and we’ve been married for 13 years. We have three sons – Jonathan (12 years old, 7th grader at Crews), Joseph (10 years old, 5th grader at Brookwood), and Judah (9 years old, 4th grader at Brookwood).

I’ve been in ministry for 19 years serving in a variety of roles in a variety of environments. I highly value people and love to invest in and encourage everyone that I’m fortunate to meet. I was born and raised in Southwest Atlanta. My mom still lives in the house that I was raised in.

What is your vision for the students at Grace?
That they would follow Jesus well by growing deeper in their faith and finding joy and purpose in their lives. Also, that they would learn the beauty of the example that Jesus set for us in what it means to be a servant leader. Lastly, that they would know that they are loved deeply by our Father in heaven and valued and cared for well by our staff and leaders. And it is a MUST that we have fun doing it together. 🙂

Why are you excited to be here?
Middle school can be a lot like the opening lines of Charles Dickens’ “A Tale of Two Cities”…”It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.” 🙂 Depending on your vantage point, you can fall into either of those camps. I’m just grateful for the opportunity that the Lord has given me to help young men and women navigate this season of their lives well, deepen their relationship with Jesus, nurture healthy relationships, and invest in their leadership abilities.

What’s something fun you would like to share?
I love to cook. I love to run. I love to read. I love to laugh. And I love to roller skate (old school 4 wheels, not rollerblades).

Anything else you would like for your new church family to know?
I’m looking forward to what the Lord will build in the lives of students and families through LUG. Please be sure to say hello when you see me. I’m excited to meet you and get to know you better in the weeks, months, and years ahead.
