Buddy Hoffman—the founding pastor of the Grace Family of Churches—went to be with the Lord Sunday night, February 12, around 8p. Though we have been anticipating this day for some time, the sadness of separation is real and very significant, especially for Buddy’s wife, Jody, for his children, Gabe, Joy, and Spring, and for all the extended family and deep friends whose lives have been touched by Buddy’s faithful ministry.

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.

I want to send a card. Should I forward it to the above Snellville address?
Thank You.
Hi, yes that would be fine.
Yes. Thank you so much. Jody
Buddy Hoffman was the most committed and faithful pastor and teacher I ever knew. He taught us so much. To Jody and the family, thank you for sharing him with us.
Maurice Blount and Family. Smyrna, Georgia.
Maurice, Buddy loved you and your passion to teach Jesus and the Bible to the black community. He was so proud of y’all. He never stopped loving you students at Carver and praying for your churches to grow and bear much fruit. Remember how much he loved Psalms 1? I’m sure he is among and has gathered a crowd of witnesses to spur you all on to reach Atlanta and surrounding cities. The best way to honor him and bless God is to teach expositionally the character of God and the incarnation of Jesus, the Word became flesh until everyone falls in love with Him. All glory to God for the things he has done and will do. Much love, Jody
??thank you Maurice. We will miss him greatly but may it challenge us to live as intentionally as Buddy did.
Hi. I am so sorry that I missed Buddy’s service today. Was it recorded?

We drove down from Charlotte NC to be at the Memorial/Celebration. I can’t tell you how blessed I was to remember my pastor/friend and see the impact he’s had on a generation of leaders not only in Lilburn, GA (where I first went to Grace Fellowship) but in the Metro-Atlanta area, Boise, Chicago and the Middle East. I loved the 3 N’s
I don’t know how they did it, because I cried when Jodi and the kids reminded us about Buddy’s heart for a family that extended outside the walls of their own home to the people in his church(es)/ministry.
I remember (and tweeted about Sunday) when I was struggling with what I was doing and going to do in my life. I invited Buddy to come down to Georgia Tech to play racquetball and eat lunch. He came all the way from Lilburn to thrash me in racquetball and laugh at me (don’t think he couldn’t get around that closed space on a leg and a half), and then encouraged me to do what God wanted me to do. Really? He didn’t have to do that. At least three times, he spent a couple hours of his week on one college kid. I heard several others say similar things at the Memorial/Celebration.
I wish I had known time was so short. We’ve started a college Bible study in our little town and I’d have liked to ask him about building that kind of ministry.
Before he died, Mom and Dad went to see him. They told me they were going and asked if I had anything I wanted them to relay to him. I told them to remind him of the days playing racquetball. I told them to tell him if I ever had to build a cabinet or staff a board of directors, Buddy Hoffman would be on a short list of top choices. I’m told he smiled and laughed at my comments.
What a legacy he has left. Please God, bring an Elisha to pick up Buddy’s mantel and run with it.
What a beautiful testimony to The Lord Buddy has left We will sorely miss him as we carry forward
Buddy and Jody and the Grace family took Jennie and I in as a young couple who wanted to have an impact and one day pastor as they have so faithfully modeled. I was honored to be on staff at Grace from 1999-2006. They loved, mentored and discipled us, gave us tremendous opportunities to see God move in extraordinary ways including having the privilege of playing a role in laying the ground work for Global missions as well as planting the very first Grace Church plant, Grace Midtown. As we continue on in ministry, we look back with extreme gratefulness and privilege to be a part of not only a movement of God at Grace but also be adopted into the Hoffman family legacy of disciple makers into South Atlanta. Thank you Buddy and Jody for believing in us, loving/mentoring us and for launching us to a God sized vision. We love you and will miss Buddy the rest of our earthly lives. Words are not adequate.
Ohhhhh y’all how dearly we love you! How proud we are of the ministry you do, the way you love people and point them to Jesus. Then you walk with them, disciple them and watch them learn to do the same things to point people to Jesus and walk with them. He was so blessed to be a part of launching you into greater ministry. He will no doubt be your forever fan/pastor heart and be cheering you on to more. Believing “He has much more for you than this” as God has spoken that verse over me I speak it over you. Please stay in touch, much love…Jody
