Prepare to Last FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about the Prepare to Last class:

Why do I need to take the premarried class and go through counseling?

Many couples spend a great deal of time preparing for their wedding day, but most couples do not adequately prepare for their marriage. We believe the class and premarital counseling will help you in your relationship and help prepare you for your marriage. The class is designed to help provide you with specific skills and knowledge related to marriage, while premarital counseling is designed to give you more specific, objective feedback on strengths and growth areas of your relationship.

Do I have to be a member of Grace to complete the class?

No. The class is open to both members and non-members. Whether you attend church or not, we believe this class will help prepare you for marriage. We are glad to have you join us regardless of whether or not you go to church.

When is the ideal time to go through the class?

We recommend going through the class at least 4-6 months prior to your wedding date. This allows you time to complete the class and to go through two-on-two premarital counseling.

What if I’m getting married in less than 6 months?

If your wedding date is less than 6 months away, please contact Rachael Vigardt  and she will assist you in next steps. We will do our best to serve you wherever you may be in your dating relationship.

Where is the premarital class located?

The class will be offered in the homes of the class facilitators.  Most facilitator’s homes are located within a 10 mile radius of Grace.

Is food provided for the class?

We will not provide dinner, but there might be snacks and drinks at the facilitator’s discretion. You are welcome to bring your own dinner with you and eat during the class.

How much is the class?

The class is $35 per couple. The cost covers materials (one notebook each), a set of Date Night CD, as well as the cost for the Couples Checkup Inventory.

If two-to-two counseling is desired, there will be an additional $25 charge to pay for the PREPARE inventory.

Am I eligible to save $35 off my Georgia marriage license fees if I complete the class?

Yes – Grace’s Prepare to Last program has passed the requirements of Georgia’s State Marriage License Discount program and all couples who complete the class will be eligible to save $35 off of their Georgia marriage license fees. You will need to complete at least 6 hours of marriage counseling to receive the discount. It usually will take at last two weeks after class completion to receive the class completion certificate in the mail.
