WHY WE GIVE
Every week at churches across the world offering baskets are passed throughout the congregation. Unfortunately, not everyone gives out of an overflowing sense of joy and purpose. Some give out of guilt, others see it as paying their dues, and some fold up blank pieces of paper so no one else will judge them. But how many of us know why we give? The Bible discusses money more than 100 times, and it is clearly something that is important to God. Not because God needs money, He created it along with the rest of the World, but because He wants our entire heart.
In Matthew 6:24, Jesus said “You cannot serve two masters” and “You cannot serve both God and money.” In other words, if we love money more than God we might as well not love Him at all. As with all commands of God, however, following Him always results in blessing. Malachi 3 says that if we give the proper tithe that is due to Him, “He will throw open the floodgates of Heaven and will pour out so much blessing that you will not have enough room for it.” Thanks to your giving over the years, blessings have been pouring out here at Grace, and we want to celebrate those with you.
Over on the Fruits of Giving page you will find a collection of videos with stories of changed lives that were made possible through your giving. We hope you will take some time to see the incredible things that God has been doing here, and we hope that you will be encouraged and continue to invest in His Kingdom and watch to see if the floodgates open even wider upon the Neighborhoods, Nations, and the Next Generation.
Acts 20:35 is probably the most disbelieved verse in the Bible. It says, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” If you have ever freely given, you know this to be true. As you see these stories, we believe that the truth of Acts 20:35 will become even more alive to you. Once again, thanks Grace, for giving.
